For every homeless person there's a different reason why,
a reason you might not imagine. The stereotype of the homeless as lazy, mentally ill or simply far-removed from our lives isn't always accurate. The homeless include young, old, single, families, transients and the working poor. Fortunately, Richmond has the ability to provide emergency shelter for all those in crisis. Unlike larger urban areas, the problem of homelessness is not insurmountable here. CARITAS is helping to ensure shelter for everyone in our community, no matter why they need it.
